SAT or the Scholastic Assessment Test is a standardized examination administered by universities abroad for students seeking admissions to undergraduate courses, especially in the US and Canada. The test evaluates written, verbal, and mathematical skills. The interested candidate can register themselves in a prominent coaching center in their country and undergo training to take the SAT.

To ace the SAT, you must not only put in the required hours, but you must also study effectively. Whether you’re studying for the SAT with test prep materials or a SAT prep workshop, you should incorporate these strategies into your preparation.

1. Practice Mock Tests

The official mock tests closely resemble the actual SAT. Regular practicing and solving the mock tests will get you familiarized with the test format and the type of questions in the test. Try to understand the concepts and memorize the formulas for the Math test. That way, you will not waste time stressing about it.

2. Conduct a SWOT Analysis

Once you answer the mock tests, make sure you review them and do a SWOT analysis. Recognize your Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats from the mock test. This will help you focus more on the weaker aspects of the syllabus and improve. The methodology would be to practice consistently and enhance a particular area of study through strategic study plans. For every mock test, analyze your questions and make a note of topics that can be a threat or make you lose your score points. Take notes and revise them before answering the mock tests.

3. Do Not Skip Any Questions

Attempt all the questions in the mock test. The previous SAT carried negative markings for every incorrect answer. However, in the new SAT guidelines, negative markings are canceled. With proper time management and strategic planning, you will be able to attempt all the questions in the test.

4. Have A Solid Time Management Strategy

The best way to manage your time is to note down the time spent on each question during the mock test. Time management will help you improve your writing speed and attempt all the questions. Schedule a fixed time every day to study and practice for the SAT without any interruptions. Read and understand question types that appear in the mock tests. It will help you grasp the content better and attempt the questions with ease. Since English is the language of instruction, it is crucial to know the basics skills of grammar, reading, and writing. It will improve your approach to understanding the questions better. In case you attempt all the questions before time, you should recheck all the answers before submitting the paper for evaluation.

5. Eliminate Incorrect Answers

It is important to recognize the wrong answers in the multiple-choice questions (MCQs). If you are confused about the correct answer, eliminating the wrong ones might help your confusion. In the Math and writing section, many answers may seem plausible, however, if you are not 100% sure, it is best to rule out the wrong ones and then make an informed decision based on the question asked.

It is best to undergo coaching from a professional rather than self-studying entirely for the SAT. The training ensures systematic and strategic preparation. With the help of your guide, you can design self-studying tactics and clear all your doubts when necessary.
